la, ca - Boston, MA - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Michael Doe, who departed peacefully on November 28, 2024, at the age of 75. John was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and a cherished member of the Springfield community. His kindness, wisdom, and infectious humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him. John dedicated 40 years of his life to teaching history at Springfield High School, inspiring countless students with his passion for learning. In his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, volunteering at the local library, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Doe; his children, Sarah (David) Miller and Thomas (Emily) Doe; and his grandchildren, Olivia, Noah, and Liam. A Memorial Service to celebrate John's life will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the First Community Church, located at 456 Oak Avenue, Springfield, Illinois 62704. All who wish to pay their respects are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in John's memory to the Springfield Public Library.
